United Kingdom visa for Ukrainian citizens

Cost note

Standard Visitor visa fee for stays up to 6 months, increased from £127 to £135 on 8 April 2026 (long-term 2/5/10-year visitor visas cost more). Confirm the current fee on GOV.UK before applying.

What you need

• Valid Ukrainian passport
• Completed online Standard Visitor visa application
• Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a visa application centre
• Proof of funds, accommodation and travel plans
• Evidence of intention to leave the UK at the end of the visit

Why this verdict

Ukraine is a UK visa-national country, so Ukrainian citizens need a Standard Visitor visa for tourism and other short visits up to 6 months. They do NOT use the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), which is only for non-visa nationals. Separate Ukraine schemes exist on GOV.UK, but those are sponsorship, sanctuary or in-country extension routes and should not be read as tourist-travel shortcuts.

Conditional rules

• Applying under a dedicated Ukraine scheme such as Homes for Ukraine sponsorship from abroad, or the Ukraine Permission Extension scheme after already holding qualifying Ukraine-scheme permission in the UK Visa required

  These are separate humanitarian or stay-extension routes with their own eligibility rules. They are not substitutes for an ordinary short-stay visitor visa, and the in-country Ukraine Permission Extension route is only for people who already hold qualifying Ukraine-scheme permission in the UK.
