Why this verdict
Russian citizens normally need a Cyprus short-stay visa before travelling to Cyprus for ordinary tourism, family visits or short business trips. Cyprus is an EU member but is not yet in the Schengen area; a Schengen visa is not the same as a Cyprus visa unless an official Cyprus exemption applies. The current gov.cy guidance also recognises qualifying double- or multiple-entry Schengen visas, Schengen national visas and residence permits for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
Conditional rules
- Holds a valid double- or multiple-entry Schengen visa, a Schengen national visa or a residence permit accepted by Cyprus Visa-free
Up to 90 days. Cyprus recognises qualifying Schengen visas, national visas and residence permits for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The traveller must still meet Cyprus entry conditions.
